Automating Replenishment

Tuesday, 28 July 2026

Getting the right stock to the right store at the right time is one of retail's biggest challenges. Earlier this month, one of our retail clients went live with an automated replenishment solution that reduced processing effort by 50% and, over an initial trial period, improved replenishment outcomes.

Previously, the replenishment team spent hours just pulling data together before replenishment could even begin. It was manual, error-prone, and the volume of data was too large to manage in a spreadsheet.

Now, the configured Board solution automatically replenishes stores back to a defined stock target, using current stock, sales history and product-level targets to calculate what each store actually needs. Retailers aren't locked into full automation, either — targets can be system-generated or manually adjusted, so teams keep commercial judgement in the loop. Promotional and seasonal periods can be built in too, so target stock levels flex ahead of expected demand spikes.

Recommended transfer quantities are reviewed and approved before being sent straight to the warehouse system for processing — no re-keying, no separate sign-off. The result is less time spent on routine replenishment and more time for the decisions that actually move the needle: promotions, seasonal demand, and exceptions.

This is just the start. Mecklemore is already working with the retailer to extend replenishment automation to other product groups, with further efficiency gains expected.

For retailers, that means better stock decisions, fewer missed sales, and confidence that inventory is going where it can have the greatest impact.
